You are so eminently sensible, I love all the tips here Nancy! Have you ever thought of writing a book…so many practical things that new mums would benefit from knowing 😊

Yes to sunglasses and hats - I love being outdoors but don't like the sun on my face. Question about sunscreen - I've read some conflicting information that sunscreen has chemicals that might be more harmful than sun exposure. And some writers have talked about how we have lived for eons before sunscreen, so why now. I'm curious on your take (and yes, I wear sunscreen!)

Some sunscreens are better than others. Im seeing more parents at our preschool who are turning to Mineral based/zinc oxide type sunscreens now.

I always went with sunscreens that were designed for sensitive skin, with the least amount of harmful chemicals.

Do your research, this is when Dr Google can come in handy when typing in something along the lines of "best sunscreens with least amount of harmful chemicals."

Discuss the topic with your primary care provider and then make the decision that makes the most sense for you.

I had one daughter that we could not put any kind of sunscreen on her face--we did find a moisturizer that was only 15SPF. But that one was gentle enough for her face (and back of her hands where she might reach up and rub her face). We could apply it frequently (at least every time she washed her hands, or right after swimming.

And that's also, were wide brimmed hats come in handy.

Esther, thank you, but no, I have not thought of writing a parenting book in a field crowded with parenting books.
